The millionaire salary that Gabri Veiga could earn in Saudi Arabia

The signing of Gabri Veiga by Al-Ahli has sparked outrage in the world of soccer. The current Celta de Vigo player will be leaving Europe in the prime of his footballing career, which many see as a step backward in his trajectory.

Prominent voices like Toni Kroos have labeled this move as "shameful”, Many fans have been discontent  regarding the Middle Eastern league's business model, which is gradually luring more players with its lucrative salaries.

Al-Ahli has also invested in other well-known footballers, including Franck Kessie, Roger Ibanez, Merih Demiral, Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, among others.

According to SPORT, Gabri Veiga will earn approximately €12.5 million per season for three seasons, which is 10 times more than the €500,000 he earned annually at Celta de Vigo. Reports from Italy suggest that Napoli had approached the midfielder with an offer of €2.2 million per season. Nevertheless, the offer from Arabia seemed more enticing to him.

Amid the controversy, the Al-Ahli manager has defended the young player, stating that this decision will “change his life”. An official announcement is expected to be made in the coming hours.
