Atletico Madrid outstanded Real Madrid in the Classic Metropolitan Derby.

Real Madrid has suffered their first loss of the tournament in today’s match against Atletico Madrid for the first Classic Spaniard Derby of the year. Real Madrid is still in the third position but with a loss in their record, and Atletico Madrid has climbed to the fight position of the standings and have forgotten the terrible 3-0 loss versus Valencia.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team couldn't find the way to stand up against Atletico Madrid’s attack, with two great goals scored by Alvaro Morata, who was assisted by Lino in the first point, and also Antoine Griezmann helped to score the second goal of the match to put three more points in the table.

Jude Bellingham, Valverde, Camavinga and neither Luka Modric were able to make harm against Atletico Madrid’s goal, who were dominated throughout the whole match by the Colchoneros and Ancelotti noticed the lack of defensive plays by Real Madrid, “The defense was the problem, not our attack. I thought we would have more control with one more midfielder, that's why Joselu didn't start”.

Real Madrid’s system and formation was very criticized by the fans and specialists, Ancelotti was asked about this issue and the Italian manager doesn’t think he would make any changes in the near future, “I will not change the system, this game will help us improve some things.” and added, “The defeat tonight is my fault, I take responsibility”.

What’s next for Real Madrid?

Carlo Ancelotti’s team has suffered their first defeat of the tournament and will have to look forward on bringing again their key players back from the injury reserve list (Carvajal, Militao and Courtois) in order to keep up with the victories if they want to reach the final stage of the league.

Real Madrid will have a tight schedule for the next several weeks, their most easy game will be versus Las Palmas on September 27th; for the eight week of La Liga will be facing Girona who currently is the second best team of the tournament; and for Real Madrid’s second appointment of the UEFA Champions League will be facing Napoli on October the 3rd.
