Once again Manchester City is the favorite team to win the Champions League, specially with new signing Erling Haaland´s incredible form. Pep Guardiola, Manchester City´s coach, spoke at a press conference, prior to the cityzen team's first Champions League match against Sevilla, and sent a direct message and lowered Haaland´s ego.

Even though Haaland has 10 goals in his first 6 Premier League matches and has single handedly won games for Manchester City, Pep Guardiola does not want the norwegian to feel like the star of the team. The spanish coach has never liked not to be the main protagonist of the team, as proven in Barcelona and in Bayern Munich.

Here´s what Guardiola said: “If we rely on Erling Haaland´s shoulders, we won't win the Champions League”. Afterwards, the ex Barcelona coach mentioned that they are not going to play for Haaland, because he has more players that are just as important as him: "I understand that everyone is talking about Erling, but I have three, four, five new players and it is important that they all settle down," he said.

Is Haaland not guaranteed to play every match?

If Erling Haaland is not able to mantain his good form, Guardiola won´t have any problems on keeping the the norwegian on the bench, because just as he said, Manchester City usually play with only one striker, and he is “very surprised” with Julian Alvarez and how quickly he has adapted to the team.
