Real Madrid has linked up their seventh straight victory of the tournament as they outmatched Girona in a spectacular 3-0 win. They have positioned themselves right to the top of the standings, displacing FC Barcelona and Girona to the subsequent places, and they are starting to build once again their undefeated streak, nevertheless, they won’t count with Nacho Fernandez for their next matchup.

A very intense atmosphere was breathable in the Real Madrid vs Girona matchup, as fans were chanting insults to the visitor for having scored three goals. Even the players looked more aggressively towards the final minutes of the match. It was at the minute 90+7’ when Girona’s player, Portu, was violently injured by Real Madrid’s defender Nacho Fernandez.

At the moment, the referee instantly kicked him out from the pitch, however, an altercation between both parties started as Nacho Fernandez approached to Portu as he was been helped; Girona’s player thought he was messing around and Rüdiger had to stop them from beating Nacho as he was stepping out of the field.

Hours later of these events, Nacho Fernandez posted a statement on his Instagram account pledging sorry for his actions against Portu, “I want to apologize to Portu for an involuntary action in the game. Today and in my entire career I never had the intention of harming anyone. I hope you can recover well and quickly”.

Not even Ancelotti saw it coming

When the fight between both teams started, they were approaching the sideline where both benches and managers were standing. Carlo Ancelotti and Girona’s manager, Michel Sanchez, tried to separate and calm down their player but the fight was getting pretty intense so security had to intervene,

Right at the end of the match, when Michel Sanchez gave a post game press conference, he was asked about Carlo Ancelotti’s response to the altercate and Girona’s manager said, “Ancelotti told me that he did not understand Nacho's action with 0-3, he asked us for forgiveness”.

On the other hand, reporters and journalists questioned Ancelotti on the response Nacho Fernandez gave to him about his acts and said, “It was a lack of lucidity on  Nacho’s behalf, who is usually a very correct player. It could be avoided, we are very sorry, he has apologized to [Portu] Girona’s player already”.
