France Football decided not to include Lionel Messi in the list of 30 candidates for the Ballon d'Or. Now, the captain of the Argentine national team taught a lesson to the European magazine after excluding him for the first time in 17 years from the possibility of winning the trophy again.

‘La Pulga' is the maximum winner of the Ballon d'Or. Seven times he has topped the voting due to his superhuman performances over the years. However, for the 2022 gala he was not included by the jury, to the surprise of fans and specialized press.

In this context, the '10' of the Albiceleste gave a lesson to France Football magazine and confirmed that he is the best player in the world. It turns out that among the 30 candidates for the Ballon d’Or, Messi is not outdone in awards. The Argentine star is focused on starting the season in the best way possible to get to the World Cup in top form, to try and win what could be his last World Cup for the Argentina national team.

Messi's seven Ballon d'Or awards against the rest

Among the 30 candidates for the award to be presented on October 17, there are barely six Ballon d'Or awards (five for Cristiano Ronaldo and one for Luka Modric). In other words, the hegemony of ‘La Pulga' is maintained (with his seven trophies), despite being excluded on this occasion.
