Mbappé is now free to negotiate with other clubs and this is Real Madrid's plan

The moment that many were waiting for has finally arrived. After several months in which social media, newspapers and TV shows were flooded with rumors and speculation, Kylian Mbappé has from this Monday, January 1, absolute freedom to talk to any club in the world who wish to sign him for next season.

His contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires on June 30, so he can take advantage of FIFA rules, which allow players to negotiate with other teams when there are less than 6 months before they become free agents. With this scenario, the possible destinations for 'Kiki' seem to be only two: stay in France or move to Spain. Other possibilities, such as Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal and Liverpool today seem ruled out, although that could change in the future.

Real Madrid have a plan to agree the arrival of Kylian Mbappé. According to AS, in the course of the next few hours the club's chiefs will call Fayza Lamari, the player's mother and agent, and make him an offer. But that's not all. They will also give him a deadline to respond, until January 15. And, if they reach an agreement, they will not be satisfied with just a verbal promise, but will send him a contract to sign right now.

These forecasts are to avoid the same thing happening as in 2022. At that time Kylian was in a similar situation to the current one: he was nearing the end of his contract with PSG and had begun negotiations with Los Merengues. The transfer seemed agreed, but at the last minute 'Kiki' changed his mind and renewed his contract with the French side.

Florentino Pérez has a plan B

In case of failure of the negotiations with Mbappé, or not receiving a satisfactory answer before January 15, the president of Real Madrid will terminate the matter and desist from signing the French star. In that case, AS newspaper claims that plan B will be Erling Haaland, who is under contract with Manchester City until June 30, 2027.
