Courtois' injury on August 10 caused an earthquake in Real Madrid. First, because of the moral blow that the long-term loss of the best goalkeeper in the world represented. And second, because of the tsunami of offers that arrived in Valdebebas. The Real Madrid sports management was overwhelmed by calls from more than a hundred representatives who conveyed their clients' availability to play for the white team. Madrid attended to everyone, but had the road map drawn up. The first option was Kepa and he acquired his services after an express operation with Chelsea and with the player, who aborted his move to Bayern at the last second.

With the signing of Kepa, the hopes of many goalkeepers were immediately broken. One of them, Keylor Navas. The Costa Rican goalkeeper, winner of three European Cups between 2016 and 2018, was one of those who picked up the phone to offer his services. Relegated to the substitute at PSG and after a season on loan at Nottingham Forest, the Tico tried to return to Real Madrid. His experience and knowledge of the house counted in his favor, but the white team did not give rise to any illusions.

Keylor Navas was at Real Madrid for five seasons, between the years 14-15 and 18-19. Five years in which he won three European Cups, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups and one League. The white team became the club of his life, playing 162 games and conceding only 159 goals. He does not concede a goal per game after playing a total of 14,700 minutes. In no club has he played more than in Madrid, where he found the full trust of Zinedine Zidane, who even stopped the signing of Kepa in 2017 so as not to put Navas's figure at risk.

Navas, who lost his job at PSG with Donnarumma, attempted a return that would also have allowed him to meet up with old friends and recover his life in Madrid, a city to which he acclimatized perfectly and where both he and his family were happy, much more than they are now in Paris.

The illusion of returning to Madrid

Because they are not good times for Keylor, who started the season as Donnarumma's substitute and who is now the third goalkeeper after the back injury he suffered in October. In Luis Enrique's plans, Arnau Tenas is also ahead.
