Argentina and Lionel Messi are just over 24 hours away from playing against Peru, in what will be FIFA gameweek number four. Now, however, Lionel Messi has had to make a last-minute trip to Rosario, his hometown in Argentina.

As reported by TyC sports, Lionel Messi traveled with his family to be with his mother in Rosario. The trip was express, so tomorrow, he's expected to return with the rest of the team and concentrate to play against Peru.

Lionel Messi has just participated against Paraguay, in a match that corresponded to gameweek number three of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Despite the victory, Lionel Messi starred in one of the most curious images, and that is that Sanabria, player from Paraguay, spat at Lionel Messi, and it was recorded on video.

After the game, Lionel Messi spoke about what happened: "I didn't really see it. They told me in the locker room that one of them had spit on me. The truth is, I don't even know who this guy is." Just like that, Messi ended the controversy.

Argentina is favorite:

The Argentine national team is not only the favorite to win against Peru, but it is also the main favorite to finish first in the group. In fact, thanks to Brazil's draw against Venezuela, Argentina was placed in first place, with nine points in three games. Furthermore, the Argentine national team has not conceded a single goal.
