In just two games, one against Betis where Barcelona won 5-0, and the other being the opening game of the UEFA Champions League where the Blaugrana team outstanded 4-0 vs Royal Antwerp, Joao Felix has proven to Xavi Hernandez that he is here to stay and achieve great things for the Spanish club.

Joao Felix was brought from Chelsea, where he was lended by Atletico Madrid for one season, but FC Barcelona used the summer window market to add the young Portuguese star to their squad. Atletico Madrid conceded Joao Felix to Barcelona after many issues between Madrid’s executives, staff, players and Felix due to his statements on playing with the Blaugrana.

In an interview with Spanish media, Mundo Deportivo, Felix told the many sacrifices he had to make in order to link up with the Culé team, who is the current champion of La Liga.

It's true I gave up a significant part of my salary, but I needed a change. I needed to come to a place where I can play my style of football and I have always said I think this is the ideal place. Things are going well - I didn't expect to start so well - and it was an effort I needed to make to be able to find joy playing football again.”, said Joao Felix in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

A change for better

Joao Felix didn´t had his best moments when playing in Atletico Madrid and Chelsea, as he always had a difficult relationship with his respective managers in both teams. He himself said that he wasn’t comfortable with the style he was forced to play. Now that he is playing for the team of his dreams, Felix's performance has increased within just two games.

Whether he’ll stay in Barcelona or not, is not entirely on his decision, as the executives from both teams have to reach an agreement.

Well, for me it depends on how the season ends. Afterwards, Barcelona is the one who has to negotiate with Atleti and that depends on Atleti, if they want to make things easier or not. But those are business things, which I don’t get involved in. I do my job on the field, I try to do my best so that they want to sign me in the end and that thing about values, whether I go or not go or for how much, doesn’t interest me.” Felix said at the end of the interview.
