When the Premier League announced they already had a winner for Player of the Month, everyone was expecting Salah or Haaland to be the potential winners, but instead, James Maddison, Tottenham Hotspur’s midfielder is the  awarded player for August.

Following the summer market window sale, since his arrival from Leicester, everything has been great for Maddison, from inheriting Harry Kane’s number 10, and being named vice-captain along with Son Heung-min, now Maddison wins Player of the Month’s trophy for August.

In his opening weeknd against Brentford, he assisted twice so the Tottenham Hotspur could tied the game 2-2, before he scored first goal in a 2-0 victory versus Bournemouth. With Maddison’s Player of the Month award, it marks the 25th occasion a player from the Tottenham Hotspur wins this condecoration.

"I could just see myself playing for Tottenham, I could just see myself in that team, in that kit, in that stadium. It just fitted well for me.” Maddison said in a recent interview and added, “They've always had...that sort of midfielder who wants to be creative, entertain the fans and be a personality.".

And he is not the only awarded in the club

James Maddison hasn't been the only awarded member of Tottenham Hotspur by the Premier League, because Hotspur’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, has also been named Manager of the Month by the English League.

Actually, this event is a new franchise record, because it's the fourth time for the Tottenham Hotspur history that a player and a manager are awarded with their respective trophies.

In August 2009, Redknapp and Defoe were granted for it; in February 2013 Villas-Boas and Bale got it; for April 2017 Pochettino and Son won the trophy; and now, in August 2023 Postecoglou and Maddison received the prize.

The other players nominated for August's award were Nottingham Forest's Taiwo Awoniyi, West Ham United's Jarrod Bowen, Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, Brighton & Hove Albion's Kaoru Mitoma and Manchester City's Rodri.
