Opinions about the return of Lionel Messi to Barcelona are varied. Although the majority of people who surround the Catalan club welcome the return of the captain of the Argentine National Team in football terms, there are those who are more cautious and do not take it for granted that the board will be able to regularize their financial situation.

One of them was Ronald Koeman, a Barça idol who took the reins of technical management in Messi's last stage before being forced to leave for PSG due to Barcelona's inability to renew his contract. Under the command of the Dutchman, the Catalans did not do well at all and suffered defeats against Real Madrid or the final of the Spanish Super Cup at the hands of Athletic Club Bilbao.

Later, he managed to give Barcelona the Copa del Rey, but the poor results led to his dismissal. Now, Koeman -current coach of the Netherlands national team- raised his voice about Messi's probable return to the Camp Nou, but his omens were not good and the Barça fans turned against him.

What did Ronald Koeman say about Messi's return to Barcelona?

“I am surprised to see how Barcelona is going to renovate its stadium, how it continues with so much debt. Players have to keep giving money, they have to accept a lower contract that is usually much higher. I don't expect Messi to return, with his close friends (Busquets and possibly Jordi Alba) leaving, ”Koeman assured in dialogue with ESPN. Will time prove him right?
