Erling Haaland is the forward of the moment, since he currently has 48 goals, being the top scorer of all of 2023 so far. However, until he became the star of Manchester City, the Norwegian had to go through several lower-ranking clubs. Haaland graduated from Bryne's youth academy and debuted with the first team during the 2016-17 season. After spending half a season at the Norwegian club, the towering striker moved to Molde in February 2017.

He later played for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund before moving to the Premier League to join Manchester City in the summer of 2022. He made an incredible impact in his first season at the Etihad Stadium, scoring 52 goals during City's run to the treble, and has scored another 17 goals in the first months of the 2023-24 campaign. But the truth is that everyone has been surprised by the gesture that Haaland had with his first team, since he decided to donate a significant amount of money to its fans.

In a touching gesture, Manchester City's goal machine sponsored the travel expenses of 200 Bryne fans ahead of the Norwegian First Division promotion showdown against Start on Saturday, according to The Mirror. Haaland spent exactly £13,100 on train tickets and also pledged to pay for bus tickets for any fans who choose not to travel by train. Taking into account that his annual salary in England is 52 million euros, it is an expense that Haaland can easily afford.

What will happen to Haaland's immediate future?

The Norwegian star suffered an ankle injury while on international duty and missed his team's final Euro 2024 qualifying match against Scotland. Fortunately for Manchester City, Haaland has recovered satisfactorily and will be available to play in their crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool next Saturday. A clash of titans that could define one of the first places in the English League.
