For Barcelona’s fans, followers, and supporters, Lionel Messi’s unfair and unexpected departure in 2021 continues to be an unhealed wound. Two years after, Joan Laporta remains as the Spanish club’s president, a role he began on the 17th of March 2021. Sadly, for him and the culés fans, this scar won’t disappear never.

After Messi’s age, the sports results Barcelona obtained were so poor and weak regarding where Messi played at Camp Nou. Since the Argentinian striker’s departure, FC Barcelona won only a Spanish Super Cup and La Liga last season. Internationally, neither the UEFA Champions League nor the UEFA Europa League was able to compete seriously until the final stages.

In dialogue with the Argentinian newspaper “La Nación”, the former football player Jorge D’Alessandro revealed: “I found it unbelievable that they allowed the humiliation of the player who had changed the club’s history at all levels to leave and didn’t react. I expected a public demonstration of thousands and thousands of people, but people were immobile. And if people didn't react, I think they didn't deserve Messi”.

In Spain, the Argentinian D’Alessandro played ten consecutive years at Unión Deportiva Salamanca as his starter goalkeeper in La Liga's first division between 1974 to 1984. Before his Spanish adventure, he defended San Lorenzo’s goal in his native country between 1968 to 1974. After his retirement, he trained in Spanish clubs like Real Betis, Atlético Madrid, Mérida, Elche, Huesca, Gimnástic, Rayo Vallecano, Salamanca, and UE Figueres.

Furthermore, the former trainer added the following: “Laporta betrayed Messi, without a doubt. He did everything he could to get him off his back. The second one was worse because he knew he could never sign him. Barcelona doesn't even have enough to pay for toilet paper, it was all marketing”.
