FC Barcelona successfully managed to prevail as the top leader of the standings when they won 1-0 over Sergio Ramos’s Sevilla and kept their undefeated streak with their seventh consecutive victory of the 2023/2024 campaign. Nevertheless, Real Madrid has displaced them to the second position of the table, and unfortunately, has sent Raphinha to the injury reserve list.

Last night, when the Blaugrana team managed to win over Sevilla thanks to goal scored by Sergio Ramos to his own team, they suffered a great loss from their squad, as the Brazilian striker, Raphinha, had to be substituted during the first half of the matchup due to a bothering on his right leg. Later today Saturday 30th, Barcelona’s medical team had the official report on Raphinha’s injury and it’s no good for the culé team.

According to information given by the team on their social media accounts, it is confirmed that Raphinha will be added to the injury reserve list due to a discomfort in the biceps femoris of the right thigh. It is said that Raphinha may be out for at least a month, it mostly depends on how his injury evolves throughout the next several weeks, said the medical report on Barcelona’s social media accounts.

Raphinha’s injury comes at a terrible moment for Xavi Hernandez and company, as they have already lost Pedri and Frenkie DeJong, two of their most important midfielders that have been injured in the last weeks. Raphinha is the third midfielder Barcelona has lost in the 2023/2024 campaign and it surely is a big problem for Xavi.

What’s next for FC Barcelona?

FC Barcelona has managed to prevail as the last remaining team that hasn’t lost any match throughout the seven weeks of the tournament. Nevertheless, they keep receiving bad news as important key playmakers keep getting injured, which suggests a big problem for Xavi Hernandez, who will have to look forward to make adjustments in order to prevail with the undefeated record.

FC Barcelona will have a not so tight schedule ahead: Firstly they will rest for four straight days, until Wednesday October the 4th when they face Porto for their second appointment of the UEFA Champions League; next up will play against Granada (who is almost at the bottom of the standings) on October the 8th; and finally will go up vs Athletic (who is in the fifth pole of the table) on October the 22nd.
