Manchester City has prevailed at the Premier League and kept his position as leader of the standings with Saturday's 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, nevertheless, Pep Guardiola is keeping losing players as there are four key playmakers on the injury reserve list: Silva, Kovacic, Stone and Grealish. Their return hasn’t been confirmed, so Pep Guardiola will have to play against NewCastle with an all-patched out team.

Pep Guardiola has shown his discomfort on the pretty tight up schedule the players have, with numerous tournaments throughout the whole year, the Catalan head coach insists that the player’s bodies can’t stand the overexposure with so many games ahead and a very short recovery span.

Today Tuesday September 26th, in a pregame press conference before Manchester City faces NewCastle in order to play the third round of the EFL Cup, Pep Guardiola was asked about their injured players and how it will affect tomorrow's match and the rest of the season.

We have an exceptional situation with many injured players and many other players who have been playing a lot of minutes and need to rest. I have to consider the injuries and the efforts made during this period or we will have problems.” expressed Pep Guardiola in the press conference.

What will be Pep’s solution?

Manchester City will face NewCastle tomorrow September 27th in order to play the next round of the EFL Cup, and within a few days later (Saturday 30th), Manchester City will face Wolves Hampton for the seventh week of the Premier League. The Citizens currently have four injured players, something that jeopardizes the training sessions, “You can't train much, but we are used to it. Last season it was the same.”, said Pep Guardiola.

With so many injured players, Guardiola confirmed Kalvin Phillips (who has very few game minutes) will be activated for tomorrow’s matchup, “He's been important many times since he arrived, not just this week. His consistency, everything he did against Forest where he was more defensive and strong helped us to have a break.”.

Right before the topic ended, Pep was asked on aiming for the second consecutive year winning the treble, and the Catalan manager could not have a bettter answer, “It's nice to have ambitions, but the main ambition must be the next game. If you are fighting for titles in May you can think about it, but doing so at the end of September could be a mistake.”.
