Cristiano Ronaldo breathes, Iran's response to the 99 lashes
Without a doubt it was one of the news that shook the world this Friday.
Cristiano Ronaldo is enjoying his 'rest' period in his career, since Saudi Arabia requires much less effort than Europe. In any case, he is not really having a good time since in the last few hours news emerged that shook the world: that he had been sentenced to 99 lashes in Iran for hugging a single woman, something that would be prohibited by law. However, in the last few hours the Embassy of that country in Iran referred to the issue.
CR7 got into that mess after he met and hugged an artist who suffers from bodily paralysis in 85% of her body. After doing this a little less than a month ago, the local media Sharq Emroz or Rouydad24, among others, had assured that the Portuguese would receive 99 lashes when he steps foot on Iranian soil again. If he wanted to avoid them, he had to apologize publicly and see if the court would accept it. However, now the Iranian Embassy in Spain spoke.
The Portuguese genius traveled to Iran on September 18 and 19 to play in an official soccer match, valid for the Asian Champions League between his Al Nassr and Persepolis of that country. “It was very well received by the people and the authorities,” the Spanish Embassy said about it. In the same way, they later deepened their defense as a result of what was said about the sentence they had given the 38-year-old footballer.
Iran's response to the international news that circulated
“We strongly deny the issuance of any court ruling against any international athlete in Iran. It is a cause for concern that the publication of such unfounded news could overshadow crimes against humanity and war crimes against the oppressed Palestinian nation,” they expressed from the Iranian embassy in Spain. And they added: “Cristiano Ronaldo's sincere and humane meeting with Fatemeh Hamami was also praised and admired.”
