This Wednesday, Al-Nassr woke up with bad news that could complicate things from now on. The team in which Cristiano Ronaldo plays could receive a sanction that is more than harsh for the Arab market, since FIFA fined him for a debt that he maintains with Leicester and is still not settled.
The punishment would be three market windows without signing, starting with the current one, a fact that would prevent their registration. If the sanction is confirmed, the Portuguese star could leave because they could not improve his squad. CR7 understands that the Arab team needs to bring signings to do better than last season, but they may not sign if this continues.
The conflict dates back to 2018, when Al-Nassr bought Ahmed Musa, from Leicester, for just over 15 million euros. In October 2021, FIFA sanctioned the Arab club for not having entered into the English club's coffers some 460,000 euros plus interest related to bonuses.
FIFA ordered the payment under the threat of a sanction. The Saudi club continues without paying the agreed amounts and the punishment could be carried out now. The figure is not large and FIFA understands that Al-Nassr will end up paying Leicester what it owes. The Arab excuse is that the debt is prior to the time it was absorbed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), so they will soon pay it off.
