The absence of Kevin De Bruyne has weighed much more than necessary. The Belgian footballer missed the first preseason games due to an injury, then returned for the first game, and was injured, something that has kept him out of action all season. There was much talk that the player's return was in December, however, things have not gone in the best possible way, but now the date of his return is revealed.
Kevin De Bruyne has been included in Manchester City's squad for the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia later this month, tournament organizer FIFA announced. The Belgian playmaker has not played an official match for the Citizens since he underwent surgery on a hamstring injury in August. The former Chelsea man has been recovering since then, but he said recently that he did not expect to be available until the new year.
This is an "unexpected inclusion", FIFA indicated regarding a possible return of the talented midfielder, which was not planned until early next year. Manchester City, current winner of the Champions League, is the main favorite for this edition of the Club World Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia between December 12 and 22. The Belgian international was injured in June during the Champions League final and suffered a relapse of that injury on August 11, on the first day of the Premier League.
The team lost against Aston Villa on matchday 15 of the Premier League and this has meant that they have gone 4 games without knowing victory. The draws against Chelsea (4-4), Liverpool (1-1) and Tottenham (3-3) were joined by the defeat at Villa Park, equaling their worst streak in the Premier League dating back to April 2017. In that season, the Pep's first at the Etihad, they finished third. Another season that Guardiola's men have to turn around after a hesitant start.
