The winter market is coming and the clubs are now planning their next steps.

FC Barcelona has been doing great in this 2023/2024 season, as they are now the top leaders of La Liga’s standings with 16 points, they have renewed Xavi until 2025 and they still have an undefeated record and an easy schedule ahead that may guarantee them more victories on the road, but Joan Laporta is only thinking in the club's future and the possible new signings that may come in 2024.

Barcelona has played its cards well, with great signings during the summer window market, adding Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix and Ilkay Gündogan to its lineup. These three players have increased the performance of the team, as we could see last Saturday when the Blaugrana team made an epic 3-2 comeback against Celta Vigo.

Nevertheless, the winter window market is coming very soon, and Barcelona is already thinking how to improve their lineup for the 2024/2025. According to fichajes.net, Joan Laporta and his executives are planning to sell Gavi (19) in order to have enough salary to add Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz in 2024.

Gavi has become one of Xavi's most confident players, as he has been able to successfully substitute Frenkie DeJong’s position (midfielder) in order to contribute in the outstanding comeback and also in previous matches, but apparently, Gavi’s time in Barcelona is on the clock.

Joan Laporta and his executives have seen on Ansu Fati’s massive sale a new way to gain more incomes by selling top A class players for ridiculous amounts of money in order to buy elite players, and reinforce their attack for the 2024/2025 season. Gavi may be in Laporta’s sight as he’s worth is estimated at 90 million euros (about 95.3 mdlls) according to Transfrmarkt.

Who does Barcelona want?

Florian Wirtz, from Bayer Leverkusen, is the top contendant to be Barcelona's next reinforcement in order to have a more secure midfield. Wirtz performance with the German team and the Bundesliga was alerted to Joan Laporta and company, and they are already looking forward to adding him to their lineup for 2024.

Wirtz arrival to Barcelona may cost them up to 100 million euros, a very tough number for the Blaugrana’s finances, however it is not impossible if Barcelona decides to sell Gavi. Florian Wirtz will put on a new level the midfielder position and will give Barcelona the confidence on the center’s attack.
