Ancelotti and his renewal, I like Madrid and I want to stay here

The Italian Carlo Ancelotti valued the renewal of his contract for two more years with Real Madrid, until June 20, 2026, showing his happiness at having fulfilled his wish to continue, grateful to the Brazilian Confederation for the interest and recovering a phrase from the that he renounced himself, stating that it will be his "last bench."

"I am very happy about the renewal, it has been quite simple. We have agreed on it between the two of us without problems or doubts. A quick agreement and I am very happy to continue another two years as coach of Real Madrid," he said at a press conference. "It is my last bench, I don't know if it will be that year but I confirm that it is my last bench. When it is over I don't know, it could be 2026 or I can still be here after. It will depend on the success we can have. I want to be a coach until that year and hopefully until 2028 because I like Madrid and I want to stay here," he added.

Ancelotti had words for the Brazilian Football Confederation and, especially for Ednaldo Rodrigues, who when he was president showed his interest in the Italian coach. "Everyone knows it, it is reality, Real Madrid knows that I have had contact with the president of the Brazilian Federation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, to whom I thank the affection and interest in coaching the Brazil team," he explained. 

"It made me feel proud and honored, but everything was pending about the situation with Real Madrid. It was clear to everyone. In recent months he has stopped being president but I had contact and I want to thank him for his affection. In the end things have was what I wanted, to stay here," he confessed. Ancelotti joked about the possibility of being Brazil coach from 2026. "I can contemplate it, thinking about being Brazil coach is a great dream but I don't know if they will want me in 2026. I don't know if they are happy with my decision."

Carlo was grateful to Real Madrid for the trust in his work and praised president Florentino Pérez, who decided not to wait until the end of the season to evaluate the titles won and presented the renewal to his coach before the end of 2023. "For me it has value the fact that the club wants to continue with my job. The intrastory is not so important because I have always said that I was in no hurry to renew. The contract expired on June 30 and the club has chosen to do it now because it is probably happy with the work we are doing everything together and he wants to continue. It makes me very happy. I don't know if it is a success because here success is winning every game," he said.
