After winning the Champions League, the worst news that Barcelona gives Manchester City
Manchester City's happiness did not last long.
This Saturday, the Manchester City players closed a historic season after obtaining the first treble in the history of the citizen team. The coaches led by Josep Guardiola won the Champions League, the Premier League and the FA Cup. With this, FC Barcelona seems to be clear about its two main objectives in the English squad.
Barça knows that they must go after two or three top reinforcements to become a favorite in Europe again. Both with Ilkay Gündogan and with Bernardo Silva there have been positive approaches, being the German who for now has his arrival in Barcelona more on track. The 32-year-old midfielder ends his contract this month and seems determined not to renew with City after winning it all.
Pep Guardiola has instilled in both players what would make them fit easily into Xavi Hernández's scheme. Should he arrive this summer, the German would play, perhaps, a bit further back to give Frenkie de Jong a hand in the recovery, combining with Pedri and Gavi in the culé preparation. However, his offensive vocation always leads him to join the attack.
The game of the Portuguese Silva in Barcelona
For his part, Silva would fit lying on the right side, where he feels most comfortable. Guardiola used him as a winger in the final stretch of the season and the Portuguese showed his ability to lend a hand in the recovery. His ability with the ball allows him to free up spaces and associate with the other midfielders of the team, with which he would have no problem joining the culé scheme.
