Xavi Hernandez and FC Barcelona were defeated in a new round of LaLiga and with this they leave more doubts than ever at the end of 2023, taking into account their aspirations for 2024 and that they are the current champions. Xavi Hernández apologized once again after the humiliating defeat that FC Barcelona suffered this Sunday, December 10, at home against Girona by a score of 2-4.

FC Barcelona and Girona FC met on matchday sixteen of LaLiga EA Sports. The culé team had just defeated Atlético de Madrid one goal to zero last week. On the other hand, the visitors had just beaten Valencia two goals to one. Both teams wanted to take advantage of Madrid's 'prick' against Betis. Míchel's men wanted to finish the day as sole leaders, while Xavi's men sought to close the gap with respect to Girona and Ancelotti's men.

Although Barça showed tactical variations defensively, Girona won the game once again. Xavi's changes did not work, nor did Ferran Torres, Balde, Lamine Yamal and Fermín manage to change the course of the match. The Catalan team received a hard blow after having shown its best image seven days earlier against Atlético de Madrid. Now, Xavi and company need to raise their heads and improve the image shown in the League, since they are seven behind Girona and five behind Real Madrid.

Xavi's excuse that angers Barcelona fans

“It is a hard blow because today we had high hopes of being one point behind Girona and two behind Madrid. Now we are seven behind Girona and five behind Madrid and tied with Atlético, with them with one game less. We are a team in reconstruction and this is what happens in teams that are rebuilding,” Xavi explained after FC Barcelona's defeat.
