The return to football of the Ghanaian-born American player surprised everyone in MLS and the USL. It has been more than 2 years since Adu played an official match for a professional club. Now Adu will play for the Osterlen FF club in the third division of Swedish football. Adu had been working as a coach in Maryland.

Freddy Adu has been known to be MLS champion with DC United in the 2003/2004 season. Since then, his career in MLS has been very good and gave him the opportunity to play in Europe.
