Club Guadalajara has had a very complicated schedule since the beginning of this season with matches corresponding to the Apertura 2022 Tournament and several international friendlies, first against the most important team in Italian soccer, Juventus, and now on Wednesday, August 3, they will face the Los Angeles Galaxy led by Javier Chicharito Hernández in a Leagues Cup match.

Since its presentation, this tournament has generated doubts as to whether or not it is an official competition. In the past, teams such as Cruz Azul and León won it, but as it was not valid for CONCACAF, they were unable to add this achievement to their list of titles, so the same situation prevails in these matches, although there are already plans to turn it around in the future.

The hypocrisy that Chicharito Hernández did to Chivas

Unlike previous editions, this time there will be no direct elimination matches, every match will be a friendly in which the Rebaño Sagrado will participate along with América, LAFC and LA Galaxy. In fact, this year's competition is called Leagues Cup Showcase 2022; however, this will change starting next year.

The future of the Leagues Cup

It is intended that by 2023 this tournament will last one month and will feature 43 teams from both Liga MX, including Chivas, and Major League Soccer, and under this format, the competition will not only have an official value, but will also give the winner a direct ticket to the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions League, while the second and third places will go directly to the regular phase.
