This edition of the Clásico Tapatío got off to a lively start in the first 10 minutes: there was a disallowed goal and a red card at the Estadio Akron. Isaac Brizuela had scored just 42 seconds into the match, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Emanuel Aguilera lost the ball and the forward found the back of the net, but it was disallowed. The duel continued and at the 8th minute, Brizuela was hit in the face by Luis Reyes. ‘El Hueso’ Reyes, with the intention of taking the ball away from him, raised his foot and hit Brizuela in the face. The referee, Marco Antonio Ortiz, gave him a yellow card, but after reviewing the play in VAR, he sent off the Atlas player.

In a match of refereeing compensations and controversy, referee Marco Antonio Ortiz Nava sent off Guadalajara's left back, Miguel Ángel Ponce, in another VAR review, after a tackle on defender Anderson Santamaría.

With this, Chivas and Atlas are again in a level field, as Chivas keeps on struggling to find the opponents goal.
