Sebastian Cordova sends a strong message to Chivas on his arrival at Tigres

Following his departure from America, Sebastian Cordova sent a strong message to Chivas after he arrived at his new team. The player said that he preferred Tigres because it is bigger than Chivas. 

The player didn't stop there but added that the Guadalajara team is satisfied with reaching the Liguilla, while Tigres always fights for championships. 

The midfielder made these comments to the media who gathered in Monterrey to cover the player's arrival at his new club, where he will be reunited with Miguel Herrera. 

It was the coach who asked Cordova to strengthen Tigres' attack for the Clausura 2022, to avoid what happened in the last tournament.

in this year's Liguilla, they were eliminated from the Playoffs by Leon, the current runner-up in Mexican soccer. 

Cordova's statements on why he chose Tigres over Chivas were as follows:

"There were the two options and they told me between Tigres and Chivas and I said:

'I want Tigres' because the club, I don't know, is bigger, the fans I think better, and here they always fight Liguillas, they are in and at Chivas I think it was to reach a challenge of first qualifying, because of how they have been in their last tournaments, and here it is to seek the championship, and that is what I have been seeking this year, I want a championship and to do things well."

He said this in an interview with TUDN, where he also spoke about what he expects from his new club. About the team he is joining, the Mexican commented: 

"Every player I see here is a crack and I say: 'here there is not going to be a problem of goals, where everyone is good, here everyone scores goals' Here is to fight for a position, let's see what Miguel tells me and I will do my job, fight and do my best". 

The player will try to improve his performance to play a greater role in his new club since he only scored 3 goals in the whole of last year's tournament at Club America Cordova. 

In all his time with the Aguilas, the player scored 16 goals in 99 games, a very poor record for what is expected from a player at a club like Coapa. 

His departure was even celebrated by many fans, who pointed out that the "10" jersey was too big for him. 

Will Cordova consolidate his position at Tigres?

Although the player has an excellent relationship with Miguel Herrera, the current Tigres coach, the player needs to demonstrate that he deserves the coach's trust. 

To do so, the player needs to show his best version, the one that led him to win the bronze medal with the Mexican National Team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, held this year due to the pandemic. 

Cordova has played 12 games with the Mexican squad, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists.

Although he has not played in important matches, the player has shown that with the El Tri uniform he can deliver better results.
