Cruz Azul's third clash for Clausura 2022 is against Monterrey. La Máquina won 1-0 against Juárez in its second match of the tournament. Juan Reynoso’s boss decided to play with four of his five reinforcements for the tournament. Erik Lira, Uriel Antuna, and Charly Rodríguez were in the starting lineup while Alejandro Mayorga made his debut coming off the bench to play his first minutes as a Celeste player.
On the other hand, Javier Aguirre’s men also won against Monterrey 4-0. Luis Romo, the former Cruz Azul player, made his debut for Monterrey and helped the team to smash Pablo Guede’s squad. The last clash between Monterrey and Cruz Azul was won by the northern club which won at Azteca Stadium in the repechage of the Apertura 2021 for 1-4.

The last five meetings between Monterrey and Cruz Azul have been favorable to Javier Aguirre’s squad, which has won 3 out of 5. In the Apertura 2021 regular-season match the game ended 1-1. The last fixture won by Cruz Azul was in Guardianes’ tournament, almost a year ago with a score of 1-0.
Meanwhile, the last two games were won by Monterrey with a score of 4-1. Rayados have dominated the Celeste club since Javier Aguirre arrived at Monterrey while Juan Reynoso has not been able to beat the northern club since he arrived at la Máquina.
The odds are in favor of Monterrey. Javier Aguirre’s squad plays at home and in their last match, Monterrey won 4-1. FanDuel considers them favorites giving them -105 odds. Meanwhile, FanDuel does not think Cruz Azul could beat Monterrey, giving them +280. Although Monterrey are favorites, both teams won their round 2 matches for the Clausura 2022. On the other hand, the draw is given in +230 odds. If you want to get money go for the Juárez option or the draw, that seems more reasonable.
Monterrey recently presented its two new signings for the tournament, Luis Romo and Rodolfo Pizarro. The player who arrives from Inter Miami is expected to make his debut for the match, although he is unlikely to be a starter. And Romo is expected to start as he did against Necaxa.
Pol Fernández, Cruz Azul’s midfielder, could join Boca Juniors for 2 million dollars. After the player traveled to Argentina due to personal issues, he was contacted by the Argentinian club and it seems the proposal they have done to the player is favorable for Pol Fernández. As the player contract expires in June, Cruz Azul would be willing to sell him in order to receive money and not let him go for free at the end of the tournament.
