Changes continue to take place in Liga MX 2022 and today Miguel Herrera had this to say about Carlos Salcedo and his probable departure from Tigres, the reason why the player was not called up for the match against Pumas UNAM

Salcedo and Tigres have been living in uncertainty since the end of the 2021 Apertura tournament, as the player has been on the radar of Toronto FC, but the Mexican's departure to Major League Soccer has not yet been confirmed.

Today, however, statements made by Miguel Herrera, Tigres' coach, suggested that Salcedo may no longer be part of the squad

What did Miguel Herrera say about Carlos Salcedo's probable departure from Tigres?

After being questioned by the media at the press conference before the Liga MX 2022 match, Pumas UNAM vs Tigres about why the Felinos' central defender was not called up to the club, Herrera already said that "one central defender left and another central defender arrived", thus implying that Salcedo is no longer part of the squad.

Herrera's statements were as follows:

"Yes, it is a situation that now that he is not traveling, if there is a negotiation or circumstances because of Carlos, the board is the one that will inform; I want everyone to be with their head in the team, that's why we decided on these names (from his lineup)."

The Tigres coach went on to say: "Well, a center-back has left, another center back has arrived, he is a good Mexican center back, but a good foreign center back has arrived, he has already played in the MX League, and we have gained with the arrival of Igor".

Therefore, Miguel Herrera has already given up on the Titan, and although neither the Mexican club nor the MLS club has shared information on the matter, the statements made by "Piojo" seem to be confirmation that Salcedo will leave Liga MX and go to Major League Soccer.

Miguel Herrera's Tigres already have a replacement for Salcedo

In anticipation of Carlos Salcedo's probable departure to MLS, Tigres already has a replacement for the central defender, Chilean Igor Lichnovsky, who has already passed the corresponding medical exams to join the team.

It seems that all that is missing for the new Tigres player are administrative details, so his arrival at the club will likely be confirmed this afternoon

Lichnovsky has signed a contract with Tigres for the next four years, with the 27-year-old leaving his previous club, Al-Shabab Riyadh of the Saudi Professional League, the league in which he played until last season.

Lichnovsky could make his debut with Tigres until Round 4 of the Liga MX since after the Round 3 matches there will be a break due to FIFA dates.

These matches will be the World Cup Qualifiers, in which the Mexican national soccer team has still not been able to secure its ticket to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Lichnovsky is not a rookie in Liga MX as he previously played with Cruz Azul and Necaxa, so he already knows the tournament and its players, which may shorten his adaptation period with his new team.
