The Tigres side coached by Miguel Herrera has Atlas defender Jesús Angulo in its plans. In fact, there was speculation a week ago that they had tied him up, but everything has taken a turn and the defender has distanced himself.

Jesus Angulo is probably the most successful Mexican defender in Liga MX this year and one of those who have shown the greatest ability, so Tigres, with the acquisitive power and their objectives for the year 2022, had gone all out for the player.

The deal has been delayed

Just on Sunday, December 12, Jesús Angulo won the Apertura 2021 Liga MX championship with the Rojinegros del Atlas, and hours later in Monterrey, the arrival of Angulo was considered a fact in some media reports, with only the medical tests needed to finalize his arrival.

Days ago, Atlas president said to Marca Claro that an agreement between Tigres and the current Liga MX champions was close to being reached.

Angulo and the reason why he won't go to Tigres

The media El Informador reports that the agent of Mexican defender Jesús Angulo is asking for a higher salary to go to Tigres, which the feline side would not be willing to pay, so the arrival of Angulo has been stuck.

The player is on vacation, after an intensive semester in which he was in Japan with the Mexican national soccer team winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and in which he was a starter with the title-winning Atlas, which is why Tigres has set its sights on the player.

But now this issue could lead to Jesús Angulo to stay and play for Rojinegros del Atlas, leaving Miguel Herrera without one of the elements he had in mind as a reinforcement.

Jesús Angulo was a key player for Atlas last tournament to achieve the title after a 71 years drought.

Dates for the start of the tournament for Atlas and Tigres

The next tournament kicks off on Thursday, January 6 with the match between San Luis and Pachuca. Tigres will begin its journey in 2022 with a game against Santos on Saturday, January 8.

Atlas, on the other hand, will play its first date match on January 19 against León at the Nou Camp stadium, a match that will measure the champion and runner-up of the last tournament.
