After Clausura 2022 already started, Guillermo ‘Pol’ Fernández asked Cruz Azul for a leave of absence in order to attend personal matters in Argentina, where his wife was living, but it was all a lie, as he travelled to Argentina without any intentions of returning to Mexico.

After 16 days waiting for his return, in which was revealed that ‘Pol’ Fernández already had an agreement with Boca Juniors to join them as soon as Cruz Azul let him, La Máquina decided to sell the player to Los Xeneizes.

Not only did Juan Reynoso said he felt betrayed by how Fernández had manage the situation, but every Cementero follower felt the same way, as they expected that ‘Pol’ would be an important part of the team who is a rightful contender for Liga MX title.

 

What happened to ‘Pol’ Fernández?

Now that he was officially introduced as a Xeneize player, Fernández showed that he’s out of shape, which is why he won’t be fighting for a starter spot in the near future. Boca Juniors paid $2 million for his permanent move, just to have him warming the bench.
