Club America's sports president, Santiago Baños, announced that the team is in negotiations with Guillermo Ochoa in order to extend his contract and stay with the Coapa team. However, at the moment, everything is stuck due to several factors. For this reason, different profiles are already being evaluated in case the goalkeeper's extension does not happen.

Relations between Club America and Club Santos have always been positive. In financial terms, Ochoa's departure is advantageous for Club America, as he is one of the highest paid players in Mexico.
