América starts the year off the wrong foot and it’s all Ochoa’s fault
Clausura 2022 hasn’t even started and Las Águilas are already losing an important match.
Prior to their first game of Clausura 2022 in which they’ll visit Club Puebla, América is facing yet more problems, this as the medical staff has found out that three players have tested positive to covid in recent hours, including the goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa.
Just two days before the second round of the 2021-22 Liga MX seasons starts, Ochoa, alongside Federico Viñas and Emanuel Aguilera tested positive. The worst part of the news is that the tests arrived after the training session was already finished.
Now the team is expected to miss these players for Friday’s match against Puebla in Estadio Cuauhtémoc, leaving them at disadvantage against a Camoteros team that has been a revelation the past few tournaments.
What could happen to the match in case there’s more Covid cases?
According to the rules established by FMF and Liga MX, if a team has between 7 and 10 positives in their squad, the game would be postponed for 48 hours, but if the cases are more than 10, then the match will be cancelled and has to be rescheduled.
