Everything points to a reunion between Alexis Vega and Rodolfo Pizarro for the next season in Liga MX, but there’s not a concrete destination. Not just yet. Both Chivas and Monterrey are trying to ink up a deal with the Mexican National Team players before Clausura 2022 starts.

Although Chivas seems the team that could reunite them both, as Vega is still under contract and Pizarro has been vocal about wanting to return to Guadalajara in the near future, Monterrey has started a bidding war for the Inter Miami FC player.

It’s also rumored that Rayados is on the market looking to add another forward as their building up to face not only Liga MX but also 2022 FIFA Club World Cup, set to be disputed on February 3-12 in the United Arab Emirates, having as a priority Chivas’ own Alexis Vega.

As one of the wealthiest teams in Liga MX, Javier Aguirre’s squad will be looking to add both players, but Chivas will have the last saying over Vega’s destination, as fans are pushing for retaining him, at least for Clausura 2022.

Both players even had a mysterious conversation on Twitter in the past few hours, after Vega answered a cryptic message posted by Pizarro. Fans are wondering if this means they’ll be playing together sooner rather than later.

Pizarro’s MLS run might be coming to an end

Rodolfo Pizarro hasn’t found the regular play time in Inter Miami FC he hoped he’d achieved when he moved from Monterrey to MLS in early 2020, something that surely would help his departure process to speed up.

The attacker, born in Tampico in 1994, is not only looking for regular playing time, but also to show himself as a reliable and constant player so Tata Martino, Mexican National Team coach, would consider him as part of his squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, set to be played in Qatar at the end of next year.

David Beckham’s Inter Miami FC is not sold on Pizarro and are ready to move on. It is said that they might be interested in a loan, paying part of his salary, which is why both Chivas and Monterrey are trying to acquire him over the winter transfer window.

It’s worth remembering that the transfer window ends in January 3 for Mexican teams, according to Liga MX Competition Rules for the 2021-2022 season, as Clausura 2022 is set to start on January 6.

Alexis Vega to wear his third jersey in Liga MX?

Even though Alexis Vega hasn’t been the most prolific player for the rojiblancos, it’s fair to say that the team as a group didn’t have the best performance in Apertura 2021, as they struggled through the regular season under Victor Manuel Vucetich as coach.

Things slightly changed for the better when Marcelo Michel Leaño took over the team, managing to slide their way to Repechaje, where Puebla eliminated them via penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

But Vega has had sparks throughout 2021, especially when he played for the Mexican National Team that ended up winning the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where he played six games and managed to score three goals.

His outstanding performance for El Tri might have caught Aguirre’s eye and the reason why he could be leaving Chivas in the next few days to join Rayados. But Chivas is not going to let him walk out of the place just like that.

There could be an exchange of players involved if Rayados wants Vega to wear their colors, as Chivas could potentially ask for César Montes, Charly Rodríguez or Jesús Gallardo in exchange for Vegas' services.
