The departure of Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona means a relief for the club's economy. The Catalans will save millions of millions of euros with his absence and will considerably lower the salary bill, but it is not enough for the 2021-22 season. At Camp Nou there is a need to get rid of more players and in that line, Philippe Coutinho aims to be one of the next casualties in the summer transfer market.

According to the newspaper ‘Mundo Deportivo’, Barcelona wants to place the Brazilian midfielder in Lazio. From Italy, there is interest in having the services of the South American, but they know that assuming the high salary he receives per season will not be an easy thing for the economy of the Roman club.

To this must be added that Coutinho is not willing to move to Serie A. As the aforementioned source points out, the Brazilian, who was previously an Inter Milan player, does not see with good eyes the option of joining Lazio, a club unaccustomed to fighting for international titles.

It should be remembered that the Brazilian midfielder traveled to his native country at the beginning of last April to undergo a medical evaluation and treatment of the injury he suffered at the end of 2020 in his left knee. Coutinho was injured on December 29 in the game against Eibar and had to undergo surgery on January 2 for an injury to the external meniscus, for which he was out for several months and did not play LaLiga 2021-22.

In the past season, Coutinho played a total of 14 games between all competitions, in which he has scored three goals and has distributed two assists. The Brazilian midfielder is the most expensive signing in the history of Barcelona (135 million euros) after his arrival from Liverpool in the 2018 winter transfer market.
