The Spanish League opened on Tuesday a file of information reserved for Barcelona players who participated last Monday in a party at Lionel Messi's house, to celebrate the recent Copa del Rey title and plan the end of the season. According to the organizing entity of Spanish soccer, the meeting "violated" the Covid-19 protocol and the press of that country assured that the decision is the previous step to a "disciplinary file" in which soccer players could be sanctioned.

Among the reasons for opening the file, the League considered that "the bubble broke and the indications required by the state competition were not followed", within the anti-Covid-19 protocols, indicated the portal of the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo. Messi's home, in the Catalan town of Castelldefels, the Barça squad met last Monday to celebrate the Copa del Rey title achieved a few weeks ago.

The meeting was attended by most of the "culé" team players accompanied by their partners, "thus breaking the regulations not only set by LaLiga but also the protocol set by the Generalitat de Catalunya," the Spanish newspaper said. Among others, the players Sergi Roberto attended accompanied by Coral Simanovich, Frenki de Jong with Mikky Kiemeney, Ronald Araujo with Abi Oliveira, Ter Stegen with Dani, Mingueza with Andrea Freijomil, Braithwaite with Anne-Laure, Neto with Maira, and Matheus with Vitória Bachmann.

According to the media present at Messi's door, songs such as "Follow the leader" could be heard, but what stood out was the song of "Champions, champions", from the Barça squad, after the victory in the final of the Copa del Rey weeks ago. At the time, the Spanish League had sanctioned players from Sevilla and Sporting Gijón for having violated the health protocols imposed by Spanish football as a result of the pandemic.
