Lisandro López has been with Atlanta United since the beginning of 2021, he had affirmed that he was leaving Racing Club, Argentina, because of "a challenge and a very nice opportunity", and because Argentine football "is very stressful." But after just a handful of matches in Major League Soccer, Licha would be evaluating the possibility of ending his professional career for a sensitive personal moment.

On Tuesday, April 27, the news of the death of Miguel Ángel López, father of the forward, was known and La Academia (an Argentine club of which he is one of the great idols) dedicated a few words of support to him at that difficult moment: "We accompany to Licha in her pain with all our affection, as well as to her family and loved ones".

But the enormous emotional blow that means such a close loss, plus an alleged important family problem that has not yet transpired, López analyzes returning to Argentina and ending his career as a footballer, despite having a contract in Gabriel Heinze's team until December this year.

The statistics of Lisandro López in Atlanta United

Licha has played four games since his arrival at the MLS Eastern Conference club. He was a starter in three and in the rest he entered as a substitute. He still couldn't score a goal. He's "undefeated" in the games he played, as he won three (two by Concachampions and the remainder by the MLS regular season) and tied the remainder (by MLS).
