In exactly two weeks, on Friday, April 16, the 2021 MLS season will have its premiere with a large number of Latino players in most franchises. Mexicans, Argentines and Brazilians lead the statistics of the nationalities of non-US players in the tournament. Now, who are the coaches in this region who will say present?

Of the 27 technical directors who will work in this edition of the American league, 10 of them are born in the United States; while the rest are divided between Argentina and England, with three each, in addition to a representative from Canada, Jamaica, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands, Austria and France. Compared to the 2020 MLS season, the share of Latin American coaches rose from five to six, with two outings being those of Diego Alonso and Guillermo Barros Schelotto.

Argentina commands the list of Latin American coaches with three, of which only one remains in his position compared to last season: Matías Jesús Almeyda in San Jose Earthquakes. While the newcomers this year are Gabriel Heinze, who will coach Atlanta United, and Hernán Losada, who will do the same in D.C. United.

Another coach from the region who will continue for the second consecutive season in MLS is the Colombian Óscar Pareja, who led Orlando City to the playoffs for the first time in its history; He is joined by Venezuelan Giovanni Savarese, who has the most experience with four years in office, with Portland Timbers, where he has won a title.

While the last Latin American representative this year is born in Montevideo, Uruguay, but is a naturalized American, where he even played two World Cups, in 1994 and 1998, we are talking about Tab Ramos, who for the third tournament in a row will lead the Houston Dynamo.
