Mexico national team played their last games on November 2020, facing South Korea and Japan in the last FIFA international break of the year. The team coached by Gerardo Martino defeated both rivals and ended 2020 without a single defeat, as they won four games and tied one.

The last game lost by El Tri was on September 2019, when they were defeated 4-0 by Argentina in a friendly game in which they had a very bad performance. Since then, they had an impressive streak and kept winning or tying every single game they played.

Mexico will now be playing the first matches of 2021 in March. Both will be friendlies, the first one on March 27 against Wales and the second one versus Costa Rica on March 30. That will be the first two games of the year, with which they will try to get ready to the World Cup 2022 to be played in Qatar.

Martino has already confirmed that the players he will call-up will be the same that played during the last international window. Raúl Jiménez, one of the best Mexican strikers in the world, or probably the best one, won’t be able to play due to a skull fracture he suffered.
