Gio Reyna and Christian Pulisic command USMNT win against Northern IrelandThe players each scored a goal in the friendly win
The United States claimed victory by beating Northern Ireland 2-1. It was in the match played by the March 2021 International Friendly Tournament. The goal of the match for the local was scored by Niall McGinn (42 minutes of the second half). While the away goals were made by Gio Reyna (30 minutes of the first half) and Christian Pulisic (13 of the second half, from a penalty).
The scoring was opened for the Americans by Giovanni Reyna, a young star of Borussia Dortmund, who received the ball, turned, drove the ball and ended up nailing it into the goal from outside the area on the 30 minute of the first half. Thus, they went to rest.
The Europeans came out with the conviction to turn the scoreboard, but didn't have a 12-step shot from Christian Pulisic in the 59 minute, extending the lead and dashing Northern Ireland's hope. However, at 88 minutes, Nail McGinn cut the gap, but it was not enough to scare the Americans.
Northern Ireland coach Ian Baraclough set up a 3-5-2 formation on the field with Conor Hazard on goal; Daniel Ballard, Ciaron Brown and Conor McLaughlin on the defensive line; Shane Ferguson, Jordan Thompson, Corry Evans, George Saville and Matthew Kennedy in the middle; and Kyle Lafferty and Shayne Lavery in the attack.
For their part, those led by Gregg Berhalter were planted with a 5-3-2 strategy with Zack Steffen under the three suits; Antonee Robinson, Matt Miazga, Aaron Long, Sergiño Dest, Tim Ream on defense; Kellyn Acosta, Yunus Musah and Christian Pulisic in the half court; and Jordan Siebatcheu and Gio Reyna up front.
