Sergio Agüero spent an afternoon laughing in an interview, but in a long chat, he revealed a hard memory from some time ago. He is currently under his last year of contract with Manchester City, and could possibly depart. One of the dreams in Argentina is to see him returning to Independiente, his childhood club. Atlético de Madridmight dream too.

After playing his best season in Argentina, 2005-2006, Agüero just turned 18 years old on June 2 that year and departed to Spain. He signed for Atlético de Madrid on €21 million, or $25.41 million. His first season was to adapt to the club, a different league, a different city, and different team-mates. Atlético de Madrid had then signed a contract with car manufacturer Kia, from South Korea. As part of the deal, the players had to travel in their models.

He was so amazed to see a different model that asked the chauffeur for permission to drive. He was cleared to sit in front of the wheel and started driving. He had no license yet, because he had not done the paperwork yet to convert his license from Argentina to Spain. Spending your first days as Atlético de Madrid’s new signing can be extraordinarily confusing.

He was excited indeed to be at the wheel that he started driving on his way to the stadium, then, the Vicente Calderón. Nowadays’ Wanda Metropolitano. Chatting with Spanish Youtuber Ibai Llanos, he commented he didn’t brake when reaching the corner and the traffic lights were red. He caused a crash involving three cars. The car’s chauffeur took his place and the responsibility. No people were hurt – just his pride.
