Many Mexican stars have had wonderful spells in United States’ MLS. Names like Javier Hernández, Jonathan Dos Santos and Carlos Vela. This last one could depart very soon according to recent reports.

Vela is currently playing for Los Angeles FC, forming a very strong pair in attack with Uruguay’s young hope Diego Rossi. He had a long spell in Europe playing for England’s Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion, and later for six seasons in Spain’s Reeal Sociedad from 2011 to 2017. Now, he could cross the Atlantic Ocean again.

Vela’s destination could be French Ligue 1. Where? Lyon. The former champions Olympique Lyon target the Mexican star as a possible replacement if a negotiation successful. According to some reports from Spain, the club could go after him in case Dutch star Memphis Depay is sold to Barcelona.

As per Transfermarkt Vela’s transfer value is €15 million, $18.15 million as per exchange rates. Olympique Lyon could pay that, plus $3.63 million a year of contract to the Mexican player, on a three-year deal. Vela will turn 32 years old next March 1st.
