Nowadays Brazil is enjoying stars like Neymar in the national team as well as in European leagues. But 15 years ago, when the PSG star was just a teenager, the two top names were Ronaldo and Ronaldinho. They both have excelled in Spain and Italy and have earned lots of money from their contracts.

Ronaldo, four years older than his colleague, arrived in Europe in the mid-1990s playing for Dutch side PSV. In 1997 he moved to Internazionale in Italy’s Serie A. There he reached the top of the world and later switched to Spain's giants Real Madrid, before playing in AC Milan and retiring in Corinthians around 2011.

44-year-old Ronaldo, now owner of Spanish La Liga’s Real Valladolid CF, is estimated to have earned between $200 million and $250 million. In 2002 he was the biggest star in the World Cup celebrated in South Korea and Japan, which Brazil won. That was his second tournament, and the first one of Ronaldinho.

In 2002, Ronaldinho was playing his first spell in Europe for France’s Paris Saint-Germain. His total earnings were sky-high after he switched to FC Barcelona for 2003-2004 season. He stayed there until 2008 where his private life luxuries forced him out of the team when Pep Guardiola became the new coach.

He moved to AC Milan and retired in 2015 playing for Brazil's Fluminense. His current net worth is estimated around $90 million after raising a reported $160 million from all his club contracts.
