After the position as coach of the Netherlands was vacant by the departure of Ronald Koeman to Barcelona, the leadership of the Dutch team began to think about a former player of the house to take over: Frank De Boer. The coach has now been unemployed for two months after arranging to leave Atlanta United in July.

"I think it is a great honor if you can be the national coach of this country. Besides being prime minister, it is perhaps the most important job in the Netherlands," De Boer told Fox Sports. The leaders of the Dutch federation are in a hurry to find a replacement since in October the Netherlands will have to face three games.

In the event that Frank De Boer becomes the new coach of the Netherlands, he would debut against Bosnia and Italy in the Nations League and then play a friendly against the Mexican team. As coach of Atlanta United, De Boer led 55 games, of which in 19 he was defeated.
