The time of Miguel Herrera at Club America has ended. The Liga MX side published this Monday a statement saying that they took the decision to fire him after more than three years of work. America cleared that the decision had to do with the bad results obtained during the last months.

The last game from Herrera in front of America was the defeat suffered against LAFC on Concacaf Champions League semifinals. Carlos Vela was the great figure of the night and, at the end, we may assure that one of the responsible for Herrera being axed from his position. The attacker scored two goals on the victory 3-1 of the MLS side.

But that was not the only act from Vela that helped America to fire Herrera. The forward was recently set to join America, as rumors from the Mexican press indicated. The coach has a relationship with the player and was asked about that possibility, but he finally expressed that it was impossible to that signing to happen.

After all, Vela rejected America and eliminated them from the last tournament for which they compete on the year. In front of the club, Herrera won a Liga MX title, the Cup MX and the Champion of Champions. It was his second period at the club, as before he was from 2012 to 2013 and now since July 2017 until this December 2020.
