Alex Alcalá: who is the 15-year-old Mexican Lionel Messi that signed for LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy has shocked MLS after giving a professional contract to a 15-year-old player who could become the next big hope for Mexican soccer. We do not think he already makes it into the first team in 2021 but putting his name on paper with the team always will represent a huge step ahead. He is expected to join Galaxy II instead, but at the same time, he will have some training sessions with the first team.

His name is Alex Alcalá and was born in Stockton, California, to Mexican parents. He has already represented Mexico in the Under-15 and Under-16 national team. He was born on October 20, 2005 and could be the revenge for Mexican national team after losing Luka Romero from Mallorca, who has chosen to play for the Argentinian national team and already had his debut in the Under-15.

The general manager of LA Galaxy, Dennis Te Kloese, has announced the signing and praised Alcalá’s talent, commenting that he expects the structure of the team and the resources the young boy will be provided will help him develop himself, both as a player and as a person.
