He was the new Gabriel Batistuta and has signed for Atlanta United being 37 years old

Soccer in Argentina was largely owned by Diego Armando Maradona before Lionel Messi's kingdom. In the middle, by the end of the 1990s decade there were a few more stars in Europe who could not win the World Cup. Diego Simeone, Ariel Ortega, Juan Sebastian Verón and Gabriel Batistuta are among them. A man who played with some of them is now joining MLS.

After suffering lots of struggles recovering from the many injuries he's had in his career, Gabriel Batistuta retired from soccer in 2005 playing in the Qatari league. over is more than 15 years of career he has excelled for his stellar finishing particularly described by his rocket-powered shooting. Hernan Crespo was his natural replacement in the national team, but after him there were huge expectations in another name.

On his way to turn 38 years old former Olympique Lyon top scorer Lisandro Lopez has just signed for Atlanta United in the MLS. He has come on a free transfer from Racing Club, one of the five historic clubs of his native country. After having his professional debut in 2003 he was immediately poised as Argentina’s next top scorer. However, his career took him to glory in Portugal for FC Porto and Olympique Lyon in France.

He won four league titles in Portugal and two domestic cups in France as his biggest awards. Recently, he returned to Racing Club to win the Argentinian Superliga in 2018-19 season, being already 36 years old. He emulated former Inter Milan striker Diego Milito, another Racing Club emblem. In his early career López shared the team with Diego Simeone, who retired to coach the club at the beginning of 2005. He will now meet former Argentina’s team-mate Gabriel Heinze, new Atlanta United’s coach.

Little international action

Despite his proven skills, López was behind seven-years-older Hernán Crespo in the final period of the ex-Milan and Chelsea striker. But when he was ready for his chance, the extrordinary generation of Gonzalo Higuaín and Sergio Agüero broke into the national team alongside Lionel Messi. He just played seven friendly games between 2005 and 2009, and scored a goal in the last one, a 3-2 win over Russia in Moscow.
