Orlando City SC fans eagerly awaiting Matheus Aias' MLS debut will have to wait a little longer. Aias, who arrived on a transfer from Watford FC, will undergo further medical evaluation before being eligible to join the Lions, the club announced in a statement. So there is no immediate schedule for Aias to start playing.

The 23-year-old Brazilian signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with an option for another season a month ago. Aias never made a first-team appearance for Watford, but has scored 23 goals in 74 loan appearances with CD Mirandes of La Liga 2 in the past two years. The center forward broke with Spanish Granada after moving to Spain from his native Brazil and joined Watford in 2017, although he spent almost the entirety of his spell with the club on loan in Spain.

At the moment Orlando City is in third position in the Eastern Conference with 22 points, five behind the Columbus Crew leader. The next game will be today against Sporting Kansas City and on Sunday they will visit Dallas FC.
