The former River Plate, Banfield and Chivas de Guadalajara coach defended himself from the harsh criticism he suffered in recent days after losing 1-7 to the Seattle Sounders in MLS. "This system we use is so that each player is more and more complete, the major leagues in the world have complete players, what does it mean for me? Who attack and defend.I once said that in San José everyone runs and plays" Almeyda said.

San Jose has not won since July 27 and from there they drew a game and suffered two humiliating losses: 1-7 vs Seattle Sounders and 1-5 vs Los Angeles FC. The team led by the Argentine is in the second to last position in zone B, 4 points away from entering the playoffs.

"For those who do not know our trajectory, we have won seven titles playing in a similar way, football will never be old, it is the same that has been played for 100 years, there are football tastes and they respect each other" Almeyda said. Almeyda was champion of the B Nacional with River Plate and Banfield in Argentina and won five titles in Mexico with Chivas de Guadalajara.
