Liga MX 2022 preseason got off to a great start as Diego Valdes and Jonathan Dos Santos made their debuts in Club America's preseason match against Pachuca

The match ended in a 1-1 draw but Las Aguila's coach Santiago Solari finally got to see both players in action, who had a few minutes of action on the field according to media outlet TUDN.

The first goal of the match came in the 18th minute courtesy of Roger Martinez, while Los Tuzos' equalizer came in the 41st minute through Roberto La Rosa.

Although Club America's brand new reinforcements, Diego Valdes and Jona Dos Santos did not play a major role in the match, the game served to help them get used to the weather and altitude conditions, as the game was played at the Azteca stadium.

Club America takes advantage of preseason to test new reinforcements

Last season Club America was a strong candidate to go for the top Mexican soccer title

The team finished in first place in the overall standings in the Apertura 2021 tournament and showed a clear dominance over all its rivals.

That was until they faced Pumas UNAM in the semi-final match of the championship, a match that is already considered a classic in Liga MX.

Both teams had to face each other in two matches, one first leg and one-second leg. And the first match, in which Pumas played at home, ended with a 0-0 score, which many thought the university team was dead.

However, the second leg turned into a night full of magic for the Auriazules, while for the Aguilas it turned into a nightmare

America managed to open the scoring with a goal by Emanuel Aguilera in the 11th minute, and the Azulcremas' fans began to dream of another league title.

But those dreams began to die in the 20th minute when Washington Corozo scored for Pumas, an action that would be repeated in the 42nd minute.

And to finish off the home team's hopes at the Azteca, Higor Meritao scored the final goal in the 82nd minute

With that goal, the score was 3-1, the Aguilas were out of the Playoffs and Pumas UNAM advanced to the semifinals, where they were defeated by Atlas, the current tournament champion.

Club America is taking advantage of the preseason to test that everything is in place to avoid another disappointment like the one that occurred in the Apertura 2021.

Club America prepares for its debut in the Clausura 2022

Liga MX preseason matches are valuable resources for both players and coaches to test game plans, lineups, and even rehearsed plays.

They are also the first contact that Mexican First Division teams have before the start of the next tournament.

The Coapa team's debut in the Clausura 2022 will be next Friday, January 7 at 9 PM at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium, in a match in which the club is expected to use its two reinforcements to show its fans that this year they are going for the championship.

For its part, Pachuca will be in charge of opening the tournament when it faces Atlético San Luis on Thursday, January 6 at 9 PM at the Alfonso Lastras Ramirez Stadium.
