Águilas Doradas was forced this Sunday by the authorities of the Colombian soccer league to play with seven footballers, decimated among injured and affected by Covid-19, and lost 3 to 0 against Boyacá Chicó in the match corresponding to date 18. The team ended up with six players due to an injury to Giovanny Martínez with ten minutes to go and in this way the game was considered suspended at the Alberto Grisales stadium in Rionegro.
Águilas Doradas, who appeared to not receive severe sanctions, registered 29 players for the 2021 season and as of today has seven injured and 16 infected with coronavirus, plus four members of the coaching staff.
"Dimayor (the Colombian league) approved a regulation at the beginning of the pandemic that today shows that it was light and adynamic (it obliges to develop matches with at least seven players). Governments have shown that their policies are dynamic like Covid-19 "The club pointed out on its official website through a statement.
The starting lineup had a substitute goalkeeper as a field player who endured until Martinez's injury. Boyacá Chicó's three goals were in the second half.
The official Twitter account of Águilas Doradas allowed itself a moment of humor at halftime with the following publication: "For those who ask, we are going unchanged in this second half (?)".
Águilas Doradas march 17th. in Dimayor with 14 points, while Boyacá Chicó is in 15th. position with 15 units.
